The cattle business began in the early 1950s when Lannie's grandfather Harvey Mecom began cross breeding his brahman cattle and came up with 3/8-5/8 brahman and Angus cross. The first calf crop produced champion bulls at the Texas stock shows. From that point on Lannie continued her love for cattle by raising Brangus cattle. But recently Lannie has handed the cattle division of the ranches to Steve Martin, Lannie's son in law. Wichita Ranch now has commercial and registered Brahman cattle that have been hand picked by Steve from all around the country. We feel that the Brahman cattle that are present at both ranches are the best not only because they have been hand picked by Steve Martin, but because they carry the brand.
